The Council of Editors of Learned Journals (CELJ) recognized the September 2012 issue of American Quarterly (Volume 64, Issue 3) as the co-winner of Best Special Issue in the 2013 CELJ Awards. The winners were announced at the 2014 Modern Language Association Annual Convention.The issue, "Race, Empire, and the Crisis of the Subprime." was edited by Paula Chakravartty and Denise Ferreira da Silva (School of Business and Management). This marked the third time the journal received this honor, also winning in 1997 and 2009. AQ shared the 2013 award with Radical History. Each September, the American Quarterly editorial team assembles an interdisciplinary collection of pieces centered on a common theme in order to produce a special issue of topical, current interest.
