The School of Business and Management is delighted to announce that Dr Frances Bowen has now taken over as our new Head of School.
Professor Bowen replaces Professor Martin Laffin, who steps down after more than five years in the role. The School's Professor of Innovation Studies, Frances previously served as Deputy Head of School and Director of Research.
Born in Wales, Frances's academic career has seen her studying and working in such diverse places as Boston, Sheffield, Oxford, Bath and Calgary, where she was Associate Dean (Research). Frances also regularly advises companies and government bodies alike on sustainable economic practices.
We spoke to a delighted Professor Bowen, who was understandably looking forward to her new role:
"I am very excited to be stepping in as Head of School at this stage in the school’s development. Over the past 5 years, the school has doubled in size but still retained its distinctive flavour as a multidisciplinary, socially-engaged management school. Our school is a vibrant and highly diverse community with great potential for understanding innovation, learning and social change. I am looking forward to working with our community of students, staff and alumni to help us be all we can be."
