On the 14th February the School of Business Management hosted an industry panel event as part of Dr Andromachi Athanasopoulou’ s BUS141 module. The panel was brought together and hosted by Sarah Bryan, Business Development Officer, with Q & A delivered by Iain McLoughlin, Senior Careers Coach. The Panel consisted of Amber Stobbs - Female Footballer & Director of Equal Focus Football; Ashley Thomas – British Heart Foundation; Bilal Bin Saqib BBS & Co; Breanna Yen – Curvestone; Michael Si – Monese; Rebecca Lau – BlackRock; Virginia Stagni - Financial Times. Each Panellist spoke about their experience of getting their foot in the door of industry, what they have learnt and offered advice based on their own unique experience. Following on from the panel discussions, we hosted a networking event whereby student could speak directly with members of the panel.
Student Georgi Stoyanov said of the event:
I just wanted to say thank you, to you and SBM for putting together such an insightful event tonight! I highly appreciate it and I’m so happy I attended it! I got the chance to speak to a bunch of inspiring people and even managed to ask Virginia to become my mentor. She also told me about the FT Challenge initiative which I will be applying for in June. Also, I networked with the whole panel and connected with them on LinkedIn where I’ve already started a conversation with Michael from Monese. Honestly, thank you very much for making this possible and for introducing these people to us- very helpful!
