Apply to become a Student Ambassador for 2024-2025

We are now accepting applications from students wishing to apply to become a Student Ambassador for the School of Business and Management for this academic year (2024 – 2025).

What is the opportunity?

The School of Business and Management is keen to give its students as many opportunities as possible. We work hard to raise aspirations and expand the recruitment of students/international students who are currently under-represented in higher education. We are looking for Undergrad, Postgrad/ PhD students to help with events as well as ad-hoc administrative jobs to help run the school sufficiently.

As a Student Ambassador, you can gain experience working at our internal and external events, such as Open Days, academic conferences, seminars, and socials. You will also work with young people on school visits, do campus tours, facilitate workshops, and more. There are also opportunities to facilitate other activities around the university. 

Training will be provided, and you will gain valuable skills in planning events and creating content for our social platforms. Student Ambassadors are paid £14.52 per hour and have shift opportunities on an ad-hoc basis.

How to apply

Before applying please read the job description above completely.

You will need to complete the 3 steps below and submit relevant documents to sbm-events@qmul.ac.uk.

1. A 1-minute video explaining the following:

  • Introduction - Name / Course / Year / A little about yourself
  • Relevant experience -  3 essential/desirable person specification points (within the experience and skills sections of the job description). You may talk about any other skills you have which may be beneficial.
  • Why you would like to join the SBM Student Ambassador team

2. A short paragraph (no more than 250 words) on one of the below questions, explaining a time when:

  • you had to take on a leadership role you hadn’t been fully trained for.
  • you faced a challenging situation at work
  • you endured the biggest change you’ve had to deal with? How did you adapt to that change?
  • What’s the most interesting thing about you that’s not on your CV/resume?

3. Complete the Student Ambassador form via the link.

Deadline

All submissions need to be sent by Thursday 3rd October 2024 by 16:00. Any submissions after this time will not be included in the shortlisting.

Successful applications will be notified on Wednesday 9 October and invited for an in person interview shortly after. The interviews will commence on Tuesday, 15 October, and Wednesday, 16 October (13:00-15:00) or (16:00 -18:00). Details will be sent to those selected.
