Drama is committed to creating new versions of ‘public’ space in which genuine and deep engagement between different kinds of experts can take place. This means we experiment with forms and approaches to the facilitation of engagement between and within communities of expertise. Our approach is to emphasise the university as a genuinely public space to be made available to the widest range of communities. We focus on enabling local knowledge and insight to become audible, from the ‘ground up’. Drama has a long history of working cooperatively and sustainably with a wide range of individuals, organisations, communities and arts institutions, sustaining deep relationships and collaborations over many years, and developing innovative and ethical methods to evaluate the quality and benefits of this work.
