Pedro Perez Rothstein

Profile

I am a Brazilian-Spanish theatre-maker and researcher currently doing my PhD Drama at Queen Mary University of London with support of an international postgraduate fellowship from “la Caixa” Foundation. My thesis focuses on the complex relations between theatres, cities, and mental health by exploring case studies in London (Arcola Theatre), Barcelona (Teatre Lliure) and São Paulo (Teatro Oficina). My research specialisms and interests include theatre/applied theatre, directing, dramaturgy, storytelling, cultural policies, creative health and urban mental health.

Moreover, I am a country expert (Spain) for the The Compendium of Cultural Policies & Trends, an active member of  the International Center for Artistic and Academic Research on Antonin Artaud and I work as a Project Manager for People’s Palace Projects.  

Teaching

As a Teaching Associate in the MSc Creative Arts and Mental Health -a shared postgraduate programme between School of English and Drama (SED) and the Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH), I develop teaching in the following modules:

In the past I have also been an Associated Lecturer for Screenwriting and Storytelling in the BA Film Production at University for the Creative Arts (UCA).

Furthermore, I run a weekly Theatre Lab with Drama UG and PGT students which is a non-assessed creative space for experimentation and enjoyment, combining different practical approaches to theatre and performance.
