Nina LyndonCo-Director of Hackney ShowroomProfileProfileNina Lyndon worked for 8 years running the Young Writers Programme at the Royal Court theatre. During that time she produced over a dozen plays, developed best practice models for nurturing emerging artists and pioneered artist development programmes working with writers traditionally underrepresented in the arts. Nina was responsible for the implementation of groundbreaking initiatives such as Critical Mass which created the right environment for young black British playwrights to flourish. She has delivered creative programmes in prisons, theatres, schools, youth centres and many social settings working with hard to reach groups. In 2006 she founded Disco Loco and in 2011 founded New Future Collective which is home to Disco Loco, Futureheads & Hackney Showroom. Work Disco Loco is a family arts programme based in Hackney delivering monthly community parties and an annual free festival of culture. Futureheads is a creative learning programme which places tools into the hands of our local community to better equip them with the skills needed to face a fast changing and uncertain future. Hackney Showroom launched in March 2015. Our vision is to create a leading theatre producing new work by the very best theatre makers, and for our building to be a meeting point where people from different communities come together to be inspired, uplifted and emboldened by great art.
