In addition to your academic work, there are a wide variety of extracurricular activities on offer to you.
You will have the opportunity to see and meet with key theorists and practitioners through regular public lectures, workshops, and performance festivals held at Queen Mary. The recent Peopling the Palace Festival, a six-day season of performances, exhibitions, film screenings, and discussions, provided many opportunities for students to network with performers and to help out behind the scenes.
Current students are involved in a wide range of clubs and societies, from the English Society to QMEquality, and from the Music Society to the Boat Club. Students also contribute to Queen Mary's radio station - Quest Radio - and to Cub Magazine.
Particularly popular amongst current students is the Queen Mary Theatre Company. QMTC is a student-run society devoted to staging theatre and performance. A multiple winner of Queen Mary Society of the Year, QMTC stages performances, sponsors original writing for the stage, runs improv events, and produces an annual show for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. QMTC is open to all Queen Mary students, but Drama students are especially active members and the Department of Drama provides financial and technical support for the Company’s activities.
