Profile

Guy is a lecturer and critic in English and American literature, and he teaches modules at Queen Mary and at Goldsmiths. His research focuses on the literary modernism of the early twentieth century and the 1960s counterculture, with an emphasis on the politics of both periods and unexpected connections between them. He published a monograph in 2020 (Anti-Humanism in the Counterculture, Palgrave Macmillan), along with an edited special issue, Anti-Humanist Modernisms, for literature and theory journal Textual Practice. He is currently working on a second book, for the general market, about the 1960s and its bearing on contemporary divisions over the language of race, gender, and sexuality.

Teaching

Guy has taught on a range of modules at Queen Mary, including London Global (ESH 126), Romantics and Revolutionaries (ESH 286), High and Low Moderns (ESH 6003), American Money Novels (ESH 6018), and the English Research Dissertation (ESH 6000).
