Professor George Skiadopoulos participated in panel event organized by EU40 (the network of Members of the European Parliament under 40) and the European Parliament’s Panel for the Future of Science and Technology (STOA) on the topic of: “Sustainable finance: How AI can help account for climate risks”. The event was hosted by MEP Eva Kaili, EU40 President & STOA Chair. Distinguished speakers participated including Mairead McGuinness, European Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability and Capital Markets Union. More information on topics and speaker can be found on the EU40 website.
George discussed findings from his research: Investors do not care about natural disasters, neither for international summits when it comes to pricing climate risks in the stock market. They only care when governments intervene.
