Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships 2025 - School of Economics & Finance at Queen Mary University
The School of Economics & Finance (SEF) at Queen Mary University of London encourages outstanding postdoctoral scholars to apply to the 2025 round of the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship Scheme. An internal selection process for this scheme is now open in order to identify a maximum of three candidates to be supported with their application.
Applications should align with the SEF five research groups, Applied Micro, Econometrics, Finance, Macroeconomics and Micro Theory.
Initial enquires can be addressed to econ-research@qmul.ac.uk
Aim of the Award
The Fellowships are intended to assist those at a relatively early stage of their academic careers, but who have a proven record of research. The intention is for Fellows to undertake a significant piece of publishable research during the tenure of the award, and the project put forward should therefore not be a reworking or mere extension of the candidate’s doctoral research project. The call will fund approximately 145 Fellowships across the UK.
Level of grant and tenure
Fellowships are normally tenable for three years on a full-time basis, but requests to hold the award part-time over a proportionately longer period will be considered if this is appropriate for the nature of the research proposed and the career development of the individual. Fellowships will commence between 1 September 2025 and 1 May 2026.
These fellowships provide three years of full-time salary and £6,000 p/a research expenses (up to £18,000) over three years.
For full information about the scheme, please refer to the funder guidance.
Eligibility requirements
Applications are welcome by candidates who hold a doctorate by the time they take up the Fellowship and not more than four years prior to the application closing date on 20 February 2025.
Candidates who are or have been registered for a doctorate at any time may apply only if they have submitted their doctoral thesis for viva voce examination from and after 20 February 2021 and by the closing date of 4pm on 20 February 2025.
All applicants should read the full eligibility notes before submitting and application.
