Mr Archie WolfmanResearch - Film Studies PhDEmail: a.g.wolfman@qmul.ac.ukProfileResearchProfileMy research explores how immersive sound design in contemporary Holocaust cinema offers a way of engaging with traumatic memory distinct from previous ethical frameworks based in the senses of touch or vision. I am interested in the relationship of sound to empathy and identification in recent cinematic representations of the Holocaust. My project is multidisciplinary and engages with work in film-ethics and philosophy (phenomenology in particular), memory studies, trauma studies, and sound studies. I received my BA (Hons) in Film Studies and MA (Hons) Film Studies (film-philosophy pathway) from King’s College London.ResearchResearch Interests: Film and philosophy Film and the body Memory studies Trauma studies Holocaust studies Sound studies and sound in film
