Our QMUL Confucius Institute will be once again hosting the celebrated Chinese artist Jiang Hongsheng 姜红升 (also known as Jack) as part of our Chinese Lecture series.
Jack is currently in the UK moving and inspiring others to find their inner peace through the beautiful art form of traditional Chinese brush painting and calligraphy. Winner of the ‘National Golden Prize for Chinese Painting’ and founder of the Red Peony Academy of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy in Ningbo, China, Jiang attracts world diplomats, ambassadors and community leaders to his academy in Ningbo in his bid to bring enlightenment and peace to us all.
Jack is proficient in English, education and art and is devoted to teaching people who love art. Over 8 thousand students from over 160 countries have attended his classes. A journalist from China Daily, February 2016, reported that Jack is regarded as “a phenomenal, brilliant man who is able to bridge both cultural gaps and artistic gaps…a good ambassador for Chinese culture who makes it more accessible to the West”.
Jiang will be running a class for beginners on Monday 30th January, 6.00pm- 8.00pm who are keen to learn about the beautiful art of Chinese brush painting, through easy-to-follow instructions everyone creates a piece of their own to take away!
This event has very limited capacity so if you would like to attend then please email confucius@qmul.ac.uk by Friday 27th January, 4.00pm and your name will be added to the list. Venue will be Bancroft 3.40, Mile End Campus.
