Profile

Debra has been a teaching fellow at Queen Mary since 2007 working on the International Foundation Programme, Pre-Sessional, In-sessional and Erasus 'Exploring Spoken English' programmes. She currently teaches on the Critical Thinking and Writing in Law programme and is module convenor of FMD Learning Strategies and Communication Skills - a compulsory module for first year medical students. As well as teaching, Debra worked with Queen Mary's Thinking Writing team to create 'STEM WISHEES' a website to improve student writing in STEM disciplines. She has also made a series of videos for international postgraduate students entitled "Adjusting to UK Study". She spent a year as a writing mentor for Tower Hamlets sixth formers which proved valuable research for her book on critical thinking which was written for students moving from A level to undergraduate. She is currently doing a second Masters in Creative Writing at City University and immensely enjoying the writing aspect and the study of story-telling in different genres of fiction.
