I have a master's in Applied Linguistics with ELT from Kings College London and a master’s in Creative Writing from City University. I joined Queen Mary in 2007 and have taught on foundation, undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. I made a series of videos on academic culture for Queen Mary, entitled "Adjusting to UK Study" and had a book on critical thinking for undergraduates published in 2011. I have since developed bespoke modules on critical thinking and writing for Global Health, SPIR and Economics and Finance. I have developed a number of other Elevate modules including The Process of Writing, Active Learning with Digital tools, and more recently, Intercultural Communication in the workplace, Storytelling for Success and Communicating with Impact. I’m currently involved in creating a podcast series called Get Spotted which helps students unpack and articulate the communicative skills they’ve developed within their disciplines. Outside Queen Mary I have recently become a writing mentor at The Ministry of Stories, a charity in East London which helps young people discover and realise their creative potential.
