Profile

Peter has worked at Queen Mary since 2004 on the International Foundation Programme, with responsibility for convening the English Language and Study Skills and Independent Study Project modules, student admissions, working with overseas agents, and other duties in support of the IFP Convenor. He also lectures in English and American Literature on the IFP, teaching and convening the Introduction to English Literature and Introduction to American Literature modules.

In addition to postgraduate teaching qualifications and a first degree in Sociology, Peter has an MA in Applied Linguistics and ELT from Kings College, London, and a PhD in English Language and Literature from University College London. The title of his PhD thesis is 'Existential Suburbia: The Influence of Sartrean Existentialism on US Fiction of the Suburbs From the 1960s to the End of the Twentieth Century'. Before joining Queen Mary, he taught at the Centre for Economic Research and Graduate Education at Charles University, Prague. Prior to this he worked in London, Prague and Rome teaching English for Academic Purposes and English as a Foreign Language.
