Profile

James joined Queen Mary in 2002. He teaches and designs materials for the insessional and presessional courses. His interests include contrastive rhetoric and insights from corpus linguistics so that students can practise using the language and moves of academic writers. James began his teaching career in Egypt in 1989 and has taught world-wide on a variety of education projects for NGOs in Indonesia and Cambodia as well as the British Council in Taiwan and the British School in Italy. He has also taught in Turkey, Tanzania and Thailand and at other universities in London, SOAS and UCL. James has been an IELTS examiner since 1999 and also examines for Trinity College London.
