The Linguistics Department is home to a vibrant research and teaching community.
Academic staff work across many linguistics sub-disciplines, including syntax, semantics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, phonetics, and phonology. Affiliated staff also work in French Linguistics, German Linguistics, Hispanic Linguistics, and Applied Linguistics.
We also have over 20 postgraduate students working on a wide range of projects, including queer linguistics, health communication, ellipsis, language attitudes, DP structure, media language, and the syntax/semantics interface. We also regularly host postdoctoral researchers and visiting research fellows.
