Profile

I am a PhD researcher funded by LISS-DTP (ESRC). My PhD project uses experimental and quantitative sociolinguistic methods to investigate second dialect acquisition (SDA). More specifically, I am conducting a longitudinal study into speakers from the North West of England who have moved to the South for university. Alongside looking at changes in production, this project uses implicit and explicit measures to assess how participant’s perceptual awareness and sense of self-identity might change over time.

Thesis title: A longitudinal study of change in accent perception and production after migration in England.

Supervisors: Devyani Sharma and Bronwen Evans
