Profile

Xelo Sanmateu has been teaching in Queen Mary since 1992. She has degrees in both Filología Hispánica and Filología Anglogeránica from the Universitat de València and as an Erasmus Student she did a Masters in Medieval Studies in Queen Mary and Westfield. She teaches Spanish Language, Advanced Oral Competence in Spanish and Spanish Translation: Theory and Practice, and cooperates with the Centre for Catalan Studies.

She was a founding member of the Spanish and Latin American Film Seminar and a member of the organizing committee of the Colloquium of the Medieval Spanish Research Seminar, as well as the the Departmental Research Seminar which she chaired. For a number of years, she was also the department representative in the Student Staff Liaison Committee. Her research focusses mainly on cinematic treatments of medieval subjects.

She is a collaborating member of the Centre for Catalan Studies
