Milky Way and its stars as seen by Gaia
Data from the ESA’s Gaia space mission is currently revolutionising the field of Galactic Astronomy. I will discuss how this high-quality astrometry and spectrophotmetry can be used to shed light on the mass assembly history of the Milky Way, pin down the Dark Matter content in dwarf galaxies and map out binary properties of stars across the entire Hertzsprung–Russell diagram.
