Postdoctoral positions at CTP

The Centre for Theoretical Physics at Queen Mary University of London seeks to hire outstanding postdoctoral fellows:

  • One 1+2-year position available:
The position is funded by Gustav Mogull’s Royal Society University Research Fellowship, “Gravitational Waves from Worldline Quantum Field Theory”. Applicants should have a strong research record within theoretical physics, including knowledge of quantum field theory, effective field theory and/or gravitational waves. They should be enthusiastic about contributing to the continuing development of Worldline Quantum Field Theory (WQFT), and its applications to gravitational waveform modelling.

All applicants will be required to submit an application directly to Queen Mary, not including reference letters, before the closing date at:

References should be submitted through academicjobs online:

  • One 18-month position available from April 2025:
The position is funded by a Royal Society grant held by Ricardo Monteiro. Applicants should have a strong research record within theoretical physics and show potential to contribute strongly to the CTP’s research goals, particularly in the broad area of scattering amplitudes. This includes: applications of amplitudes to classical gravity; computations of loop amplitudes in gauge theories and gravity; colour-kinematics duality and double copy relating gauge theories and gravity; string theory amplitudes and worldsheet formulations of field theory amplitudes; and celestial amplitudes.
The unusual duration and start date are due to the current researcher on this grant securing an alternative grant also in our group, which releases the funding for the 18-month position. Shortlisted candidates will be expected to address the suitability of the start date. Due to procedural constraints, no reference letters will be requested to apply for this position.

Informal enquiries can be addressed to the corresponding group members.

NOTE: applicants must complete an application on the QMUL University website in addition to an application on academicjobsonline. The latter is used only to access the three required reference letters.
