The Centre for Education Research (CER, SPCS) are excited to organise a “Workshop on AI” with Dr. Giorgio Chianello, Senior Lecturer in Chemistry on Monday 7th April at 12 noon in Room 610 at GO Jones building.

Title:

Workshop on AI

Abstract:

In 2023, a two-hour interactive workshop was developed to expose participants to Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools useful for education, learning, and research. The workshop has evolved since then to stay up to date and incorporate new tools and considerations as technology progresses. The workshop is now embedded in six modules (from foundation to master level) across the Science and Engineering faculty. Moreover, the session has been delivered to train PhDs from a Marie Curie European Doctoral Network and has been delivered within and outside QMUL. The session runs using Mentimeter to engage/interact with the audience. The session is not discipline-specific, but it is skills-based, so it can be delivered to audiences from any background. Participants are encouraged to use their own devices to engage with the tools showcased.

The workshop is divided in four parts:

  1. AI perception and Use;
  2. Understand potential and pitfalls of AI;
  3. Use of AI tools;
  4. Final considerations and session evaluation.

People who are new to AI or considering introducing AI in their learning environment, as well as anyone already using AI who would like to share practice, are welcome.
