Prof. Tony Vlcek has been awarded the "J. Heyrovsky Medal for Achievements in Chemical Sciences" by the Czech Academy of Sciences.
For achievements in photochemistry and photophysics of transition-metal complexes, where his work focuses on the characterization of excited states generated by interaction with light and their ultrafast reactions. Research on excited-state dynamics has broader relations to photocatalysis and the conversion of solar (light) energy to chemical energy. His current research deals mostly with photoinduced electron transfer in metalloproteins modified with organometallic photosensitizers.
