This material is taught over the first semester: see the intercollegiate lecture web page for detailed programmes and yearly schedule. There will be a set of open book exams held during the month of January to asses the student's comprehension of the course.
At the end of the first year, most of our students attend the RAL summer school which is an excellent opportunity to polish up theory knowledge, meet other UK PhD students, and present research.
