Project title: Exceptional Field Theory and Dimensional Reductions of M-theory

Content: Eleven-dimensional supergravity is the low-energy limit of M-theory, which unifies all consistent versions of superstring theory. Upon dimensional reduction on toroidal manifolds, it exhibits exceptional groups as symmetries. Exceptional field theory is a reformulation of eleven-dimensional supergravity where these symmetries are manifest prior to any compactification.
This project aims at investigating some specific dimensional reductions of exceptional field theory, and also exploring other compactifications of M-theory.
