Melanie Christou

Profile

Melanie is a Learning Technologist in the Enhancement Strand with a focus on helping colleagues better utilise existing learning technologies whilst seeking to innovate in educational technology through pilot projects with colleagues across QMUL. She is particularly interested in working with academics to support their pedagogical needs with the right technological tools to change the experience for both, teacher and learner.

Whilst in Education for over a decade, Melanie arrived in TELT via an unconventional career pathway. Starting out as a programme manager for a Circus Arts university, she then joined Careers and Enterprise at QMUL and took on a range of roles relating to employability. It is during that time that her passion and interest in learning technology became clear. She has previously worked as a Digital Accessibility Assistant, a role that has educated her and enriched her understanding of issues around digital accessibility and something that informs her work now. 

Outside of QMUL, she is a Pilates teacher trainer and a keen gamer. Movement is a big part of her life with Pilates and rowing being the main modalities.
