It’s Our Birthday!

The Technology Enhanced Learning Team (TELT) is a year old.

Last year the eLearning Unit evolved into the Technology Enhanced Learning Team (TELT) and migrated to become a part of IT Services. As part of the move, the team was structured slightly differently to encompass three strands of work:

  • Enhancement strand
  • Services strand
  • Training and Support strand

You can find out more about how the strands work and what they’re up to on the TELT pages.

Technology Enhanced Learning Community of Practice

The Technology Enhanced Learning Community of Practice is a new venture for 2023. It is open to all colleagues across the University who want to share ideas, content, experiences, questions, and best practices. You can find out more about the community on the TELT pages.

The Community will be formally launched on Feb 22nd at an event in the Queens Building at the Mile End campus. The event will include community volunteers sharing their practice with us. More details can be found on our Teams page and you can register for this event on our Eventbrite page.

Badges on QMplus

QMplus users may have noticed the digital badges icon on the module navigation drawer in the new QMplus theme, while those who completed the recent QMplus 'Super' Administrator Refresher Course will have received a badge for their achievement.

If you would be interested in finding out more about the possibility of awarding digital badges to students as a validated indicator of accomplishment, engagement, skill, or interest, please read our dedicated guide.

More background information on digital badges can be found on the Open Badges website.

Important Changes to Moodle Text Editor

On 14th December we made changes to the Atto Editor in QMplus in order to improve and bring it in line with the University's accessibility drive in the use of technology.

The issues identified which the updates sought to address included problems with menu scrolling, freezing, issues with features in full screen, features becoming outdated and more.

Further details of the context of this update and issues fixed and updated can be found on the TELT website.

Q-Review – Ensuring your lecture is being captured

Q-Review is now available in 137 rooms across the University Campuses. TELT Learning Technologist Simon Durant has put together some handy tips for you to ensure your lecture is being recorded when delivering teaching in one of these rooms.

These can be found on the TELT pages.
