Zoom is being decommissioned at the end of the 2024/25 academic year.
You can continue to use Zoom for the 2024/25 academic year, however we encourage you to start using MS Teams instead.
Please raise a ticket with IT Services if you have any further questions or concerns about this change.
If you would like to learn more about using MS Teams for teaching and learning, please contact the Technology Enhanced Learning Team at telt@qmul.ac.uk.
Please note that using Zoom beyond the 2024/25 academic year, including individual purchases, will not be supported.
If you have embedded links to Zoom for your modules, you will still be able to use them until July 31st, 2025, when Zoom will be decommissioned. Zoom links should be removed from QMplus well in advance of the module page being rolled over for the next academic year.
This is currently being worked on by IT Services to support MS Teams integration in QMplus.
This functionality will change. MS Teams recordings are currently uploaded to the meeting organiser's OneDrive (private meetings) or SharePoint (channel meetings). It’s also linked in the chat for the meeting. More information on managing Teams recordings can be found here.
IT Services are investigating ways to automatically link recordings to QMplus.
Your Zoom recordings will remain in QMplus Media (Kaltura).
We do not recommend that individuals or schools/departments purchase Zoom licenses, as IT Services will not provide central support for Zoom.
Yes, once Zoom is decommissioned you will still be able to join meetings in Zoom using a link sent to you.
We are aware of a licensing change with Zoom. If you need a webinar license, please raise a ticket via the IT Service Desk to request it. However, please note that Zoom will be decommissioned on 31st July 2025, so future webinars should be created in MS Teams as Webinars or Town Halls.
You can host online meetings and video calls for up to 1,000 people on MS Teams with our current Microsoft 365 plan.
Students should be logged into MS Teams using their QMUL account before they join a meeting.
Please consult TELT’s MS Teams guidance for staff. We will add information for training sessions when they become available.
