Top tips for you Online Open Day

Top tips for your Online Open Day

Our Undergraduate Online Open Days provide a fantastic opportunity for you to get to know Queen Mary from the comfort of your own home. Make sure you make the most out of your online Open Day by following some of our top tips.

Here are our top tips to help you have the best online Open Day experience:

Prepare some questions in advance

During the online Open Day, you will get the chance to take part in live chats with academics and students ambassadors in certain sessions. These live chats are the best place to ask any questions you may have about Queen Mary.

To ensure you get all the information you need, think about questions to ask ahead of time. Some examples that might help you consider your own questions are:

  • How much of my timetable will be split between contact time in lectures and seminars and private study?
  • How much private study is required from students on the programme?
  • What stand out aspects are you looking for an applicant to cover in their personal statement?
  • What are some of the main career options for my chosen subject?
  • How does the course help students integrate and socialise with each other?
  • Does the course have visiting guest lecturers and industry experts?

Find a quiet space with good WiFi connection

Try to find a space where you are seated comfortably, and have good WiFi connection. The last thing you need is for the connection to go while your in the middle of an online taster lecture! Log in 10 minutes before the Open Day begins, to make sure everything is set up. Here are a few things we recommend you have near you:

  • Laptop charger/plugpoint
  • Drinking water
  • Pen and notepad
  • Snacks

Prepare your schedule in advance

With our online platform, Ring Central, you will be able to set up your online Open Day schedule beforehand. You will receive an email with joining instructions prior to the event, and this will allow you to check out what sessions are on offer, making it much easier to plan your day.

Watch our campus tours videos

We know that not everyone can attend an on-campus Open Day, or even an on-campus tour. That's why we've created a campus tour video and 360° video tours for you. These videos are a great way to 'visit' campus from the comfort of your own home.
