MATCH

Is Metomidate PET-CT superior to Adrenal venous sampling in predicting outcome from adrenalectomy in patients with primary hyperaldosteronism.

Trial objective: To improve prediction of outcomes from surgical intervention in patients with Primary aldosteronism, and evaluate the merits of non-invasive metomidate PET CT versus adrenal vein sampling in the diagnosis of surgically correctable aldosteronism.
Disease area: Hypertension / Hyperaldosteronism / Adenoma

Study summary

We wish to improve our accuracy at predicting who benefits the most from surgery among patients with primary aldosteronism (Conn’s syndrome). We will undertake two tests that are in current use for the diagnosis of benign aldosterone producing nodules in an adrenal gland. One test is called Adrenal Vein Sampling (AVS) and the other is called metomidate PET CT. The test results will be compared in each case with the results of subsequent treatment.
