The five year status (2023-2028) recognises EMR as one of the top research centres for rheumatology in Europe and was awarded based on the centre’s integrated, multidisciplinary research team of Clinicians, Scientists, Biostatisticians, Bioinformaticians, Clinical Trial Managers and administrative support staff who strive to deliver best care to patients with Rheumatic Diseases.

The European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) represents and collaborates with national rheumatology associations throughout Europe. This network plays a pivotal role in advancing rheumatology knowledge and enhancing the well-being of patients across the continent.

Thanks to invaluable resources provided by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Barts Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), EMR has been empowered to create a truly exceptional centre of excellence and establish itself as an internationally recognised leader in rheumatology research.

Professor Costantino Pitzalis, Head of EMR, said: “We are deeply honoured to receive this award. This recognition highlights the collaborative efforts of dedicated researchers, clinicians, and patients within our centre who are united in advancing our understanding of rheumatic diseases and transform current practice through a precision medicine approach.”
