The project will develop personalised treatment for heart patients, using their own genetic and other medical information.
The NextGen personalised medicine project, which will be delivered across Europe by a consortium of 21 members including Queen Mary, has received €7.6 million from the EU’s Horizon Europe programme.
The project will integrate multiple sources of data for individuals, with the aim of finding innovative and personalised treatments for cardiovascular diseases. Cutting edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used to create novel tools to bring data together – maximising its usefulness for research whilst maintaining robust data privacy standards.
Consortium member Professor Panos Deloukas of Queen Mary University of London, said: “This is a tremendous opportunity and a challenge we have in building the right toolbox that will allow [us] to unite CVD patient data across Europe and implement precision medicine to improve cardiovascular healthcare.”
