Profile
I am a global health PhD student in the Global Health Research Unit within the Centre for Public Health and Policy. My doctoral research, supervised by Jennifer Randall, Kevin Deane and Ingrid Young, focuses on “Social networks, Livelihoods and HIV risk among young women in a post cash transfer environment in North-western Tanzania.” Specifically, I examine, "what happens in young women's lives after cash transfers end?" The Wellcome Trust funds this PhD study.
Before joining QMUL, I worked for the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Tanzania at the capacity of a research scientist. I have over 10 years of research experience in structural drivers of HIV, sexual and reproductive health in key and marginalised populations including adolescents and young women, female sex workers, and the gay community. I have extensive field experience working for several of health intervention projects funded by donors, including the DFID, USAID and the World Bank. I joined NIMR in 2014 after nearly 6 years at the University of Dodoma where I was teaching in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.
At QMUL, I co-taught a module on Health and Human Rights with Professor Neve Gordon and a few lectures for a module on Gender, Sexuality and Health with Dr Heather McMullen.
