Jade HodgesResearch AssistantEmail: jade.hodges@qmul.ac.ukProfileProfileI am a research assistant based in the Unit for Psychological Medicine in the Centre for Psychiatry and Mental Health, currently working on the Co-RISE study. This project is investigating how to improve the engagement of young people from diverse backgrounds, in patient and public involvement (PPI). I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Surrey. My dissertation looked at factors that influence the self esteem of young women. I then went on to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions, based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Working in primary and secondary care mental health services I have developed a number of interests including: health psychology, mental health, behavioural change, resilience, underrepresented groups, neurodiversity, psychological interventions, social groups and loneliness. In recent years I have focused on how long term conditions (LTC) impact psychological wellbeing, and different ways of joint working with physical health services. Working with these clients I am interested in developing a better understanding of what factors contribute to successful mental health treatment when someone has a LTC. Alongside working as a research assistant I am the LTC lead in a talking therapies service. This has given me the opportunity to shape clinical practice by partnering with external organisations to introduce new interventions to improve the care pathway.Research
