Profile

I joined the Unit for Psychological Medicine at the Centre for Psychiatry and Mental Health in February 2023 as a Programme Manager and Research Associate. Prior to this I was at the Department of Psychiatry at University College London.

I am a mixed method researcher and main interests include non-pharmaceutical interventions for people with dementia, support for family carers of people with dementia, dementia prevention interventions, developing personalised outcome measures, and implementation science. I am in my final year of my part time PhD based at University College London.

I have been awarded research funding as a Principal Investigator from the NIHR Three Schools Dementia Programme to lead an implementation study of the NIDUS-Family support programme to see how it works within health and social care services in England.

I also co-ordinate the Unit of Psychological Medicine research seminars and act as centre development executive committee representative.

Research

Research Interests:

I currently manage the NIDUS (New Interventions for Independence in Dementia) programme within the Alzheimer’s Society QMUL Centre of Excellence for Independence at Home. NIDUS-Family and NIDUS-Professional have developed a new way of delivering psychosocial support to people living with dementia at home and their family and paid carers.

My PhD is embedded within the NIDUS study and aims to explore the methods and validity of Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) as a primary outcome measure for psychosocial interventions within dementia care. I am funded by the Alzheimer’s Society’s NIDUS programme grant and supervised by Professor Claudia Cooper (QMUL), Dr Andrew Sommerlad (UCL) and Dr Nuriye Kupeli (UCL).

Supervision

I regularly provide supervision and placements for MSc students as well as providing placements for In2Research students. I currently line manage three research assistants, one PhD student and one post doctorate research associate.
