Dr Nikolina Jovanović

Profile

I hold the position of Reader in Perinatal Psychiatry at Queen Mary University of London and serve as a Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist at the East London NHS Foundation Trust.  

My clinical and academic work is dedicated to improving perinatal mental health care, developing and implementing effective psychosocial interventions, and promoting service user involvement. Moreover, I have a deep interest in exploring the relationship between architecture, nature, and mental well-being. 

Over the past decade, I have led numerous initiatives and projects aimed at improving psychiatric care across Eastern Europe.  

I also contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate courses on both national and international levels. From 2020-2022, I served as the Director of Graduate Studies at QMUL.  

My projects have received funding from the EC, GACD, NIHR, and UNICEF. 

Among my interests, I am particularly passionate about the recruitment, retention, and well-being of staff in the fields of psychiatry and mental health care. My collaborations with the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), World Psychiatric Association, and European Union of Medical Specialists have provided me with opportunities to work on these vital issues. Within the EPA, I have previously served as the Chair of the Early Career Psychiatrists Committee and as a board member. Currently, I am a member of the Committee of Education
