Profile

Kirsten is a medical doctor and Clinical Research Associate based at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health, Queen Mary University of London. Kirsten’s work focuses on developing and evaluating primary care initiatives to improve timely cancer diagnosis in Southern Africa and the United Kingdom, using quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods research tools. She has expertise in managing and analysing primary care, coded data from South Africa and the UK (including CPRD). Kirsten also has field work experience from working for Médecins Sans Frontières in South Africa on implementation projects and in field hospitals. She is a former recipient of scholarships from the Chevening Fund and The Cambridge Trust, and completed an Academic Research Fellowship with the Desmond Tutu Health Foundation in 2022. Kirsten holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Cambridge and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the Royal College of Physicians.
