Profile

I am an academic GP with an interest in diagnostic safety and quality in primary care, in particular relating to early cancer diagnosis.

My research interest lies in understanding missed diagnostic opportunities in cancer and non-cancer patients, examining variations in diagnostic pathways and testing strategies, as well as the development and evaluation of interventions to improve early cancer diagnosis. I have particular expertise in using electronic health records, national survey data, and in quantitative methods and systematic reviews. I also have experience in performing prospective, mixed methods study.

I undertook my medical training at University of College London and completed a MSc at the London School of Economics. I was previously an Academic Clinical Fellow and Wellcome Trust doctoral fellow at University of Cambridge. My PhD was on understanding missed diagnostic opportunities in bladder and kidney cancer.

I have supervised medical and MPhil students in my academic roles at Cambridge, and am currently the interim lead for the Integrated Academic Training programme for GP ACFs and ACLs, and Specialist Foundation Programme at QMUL. I hold a PgCert in Medical Education from University of Cambridge. Clinically, I work as a salaried GP and am a GP Trainer.
