Research Impact Support and Resource

Impact is a core part of research activity in WIPH, and this area of the Staff Zone will direct you to useful support and resource to help develop and recognise impact.

If you would like to discuss impact (including REF impact case studies) please contact our WIPH Academic Lead for Impact Prof Charlie Marshall

Queen Mary Impact Training

The QMUL Impact team have recently converted their training offer into an online course on QMPlus.

The aim is to provide an asynchronous learning experience for researchers and PS staff, where an individual can enrol and pick up the course at their convenience rather than being tied down to specific training dates and locations.

The course, Maximising Research Impact, can be found here and contains three distinct modules:

  • Foundations and the Principles for Impactful Research
  • Planning and Designing Research for Impact
  • Measuring Impact Success and Evidencing Impact

Queen Mary Impact Fund (QMIF)

There are three rounds of QMIF annually, with deadlines in February, Summertime (exact dates TBC) and October. Please click on this link for more information about the fund and how to apply here

Queen Mary Impact Resources

Please click on this link to access the excellent Knowledge Exchange and Impact Resources page. Explore the page links and document libraries categorised for guidance, toolkits, and think pieces on key aspects of how to effectively design research to make a difference in the world and prove it.

REF2021 Impact Case Study Examples

The online impact case study database allows you to browse and search for impact case studies submitted to the REF 2021 – you can use the search and filters to look by Institution, Unit of Assessment etc. Please see below a couple of examples of WIPH impact case studies which were submitted in REF2021 and are a good indication of what to work towards for REF2029.
