New Directors appointed at the Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute
Professor Noam Shemtov and Professor Duncan Matthews take over from Professor Uma Suthersanen, who concluded her successful term as QMIPRI Director in December 2023.
Duncan Matthews is Professor of Intellectual Property Law and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Munich. He is currently the Principal Investigator and award holder of a British Academy research grant on Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic for IP Licensing Practices in Vaccine Production, which recently received the Queen Mary HSS International Contribution Award.
Noam Shemtov is Professor of Intellectual Property and Technology Law. In 2023 he was named one of the leading voices in tech by the European Patent Office for his work and expertise in intellectual property and software-related products, processes and services.
QMIPRI coordinates the intellectual property (IP) activities of the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London. It is one of the largest and most highly regarded IP centres of excellence internationally.
